St. Charles Garnier Catholic Elementary School is located at 16 CastleRock in Richmond Hill. Since opening our doors to the community in 1975, we continue to be inspired by the Gospel and follow the teachings of our namesake. We do this by living the virtues, striving for academic excellence, and emphasizing positive mental health and well being in pursuit of the Catholic Graduate Expectations.
Our Catholic School Council and parent volunteers are an integral part of our school community. Through their support we are able to fundraise money and continually upgrade our technology, playground, and learning materials.
We are a Kindergarten to Grade 8 school that hosts the Program for Academic and Creative Extensions (PACE) for students with a gifted identification. As part of the YCDSB, our learning model is inclusive of all learners using a range of supports.
At SCG, each student learns in a faith-filled, Christ-centred learning environment providing a solid base for achieving their academic, spiritual and social potential. As strong proponents of human rights, equity, diversity, inclusion at the York Catholic District School Board we believe that every child has the right to be taught in a safe, caring and inclusive environment.
Each of our classrooms is equipped with an interactive white board (IWB) to enhance program delivery. Our teachers support STREAM Initiatives throughout our school, bringing engaging learning experiences in Science, Technology, Religion, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics. A strong emphasis on literacy and numeracy skills is at the forefront of our school improvement planning.
The school community at St. Charles Garnier is proud to be known as the home of the Gators! Students can enjoy a variety of sports and clubs such as volleyball, basketball, cross country, track and field, coding club, EcoTeam and much, much more.
It is an honour and a privilege to be the Principal of St. Charles Garnier Catholic Elementary School.
